What's in a name?

When I was 23 years old, I started working as a dog handler for Central Bark Doggy Day Care in downtown Milwaukee. Within a few months, I adopted a tiny, yellow lab mix puppy that we named Anakin. Just two months after that, a small black and tan puppy that was a customer, needed a new home. Even though I never wanted a small dog, there was something about the little guy that called to me. Whatever that voice was, it knew what I really needed. Clancy was my everything. He was my soul mate and my constant companion. He helped me through some of the best and worst times in my life, including standing next to me when I got married and helping me bring home my daughter. My Fancy Clancy Pants.

Fancy Pants is named for that little snaggle-toothed pup that taught me so many things, including how to love something so much you think your heart will burst. We said goodbye on April 13th, 2018, just two weeks before I opened Fancy Pants. I know he watches over me every day, making sure that every pup that walks in our door is loved as much as he was.
